Firm faces rocky future if founder is called to war
Call-Doctor Inc., a mobile medical care firm, faces an uncertain future if its founder and president is called up as a reservist for the Persian Gulf War.
Dr. Gresham Bayne, who pioneered the use of a van stuffed with sophisticated equipment to bring hospital-quality care to a patient's home, said he has appealed his call-up as a Navy reservist on the grounds that he alone has the knowledge to keep Call-Doctor running.
Due to report last Thursday, Bayne gained a week's extension by an appeal. However, he sounded pessimistic about his odds for success.
