Icon Polymer Group has bought the brake-chamber diaphragm (BCD) business of ContiTech Holding GmbH in Germany. The deal takes the UK group a step closer to achieving its stated aim of having 50-million [pounds sterling] ($70-million) turnover by 2005.
Retford, UK based Icon paid, "just in excess of 1 million [pounds sterling]," for the intellectual property rights and all assets of the German unit, said Richard Gogerty, Icon's managing director. The buy adds 1 million [pounds sterling] to Icon's annual 3 million [pounds sterling] sales in these "very safety critical, specialist items," he added.
