Mail-Order Volume Soars
ARLINGTON, Va.--The proliferation of third-party has created explosive volume growth for mail-order pharmacy businesses, which can reduce costs and ease paperwork for plan administrators.
The $2 billion industry is growing 40% to 43% per year, according to Thrift Drug Co. vice president of pharmacy services Dennis Santo, whose company's mail-order Express Pharmacy Services currently has 800 corporate clients.
The market's volume is projected by some to reach $5 billion in less than three years, and is conservatively forecast to hit $6.5 billion by 1995.
