PHNOM PENH, Cambodia (Via PLDT) - The 10member Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) yesterday appealed to Western nations to avoid issuing indiscriminate travel warnings against the region that could adversely affect its economic growth as they assured that they will pursue stronger measures to counter terrorism.
In a declaration issued at the opening of the 8th ASEAN annual summit here, the member states lashed at the travel advisories against countries in Southeast Asia, which, President Arroyo said, has regretfully gained the reputation as a "hotbed of terrorism."
