Three federal lawsuits filed against Dillard's Inc. allege that the Little Rock department store chain routinely gave itself discounts and credits against vendor bills.

An attorney for Dillard's, Paul Schroeder, declined to comment on the cases, which seek to collect a total of $16.7 million. But in its court filings, Dillard's claims it had oral agreements with the vendors that allowed the retailer to take credits if merchandise didn't bring a specific profit margin when it was sold to the public.
