Duct tape proved to be a better treatment for warts in children than the standard medical treatment in a new study conducted at Children's Hospital Medical Center in Cincinnati, Ohio (Archives of Pediatrics & Adolescent Medicine, 10/02). Dean R. Focht III, MD and colleagues randomly assigned 51 children to have their warts duct taped or treated with cryotherapy. The latter, the most common medical treatment, is an office procedure that aims to destroy the wart by freezing it with liquid nitrogen for 10-20 seconds every two to three weeks.
