Although the spotlight was on statewide campaigns, voters in the Twin Cities area Tuesday also elected mayors and city council members whose campaigns had focused on issues ranging from business development and trust in local officials to restrictions on smoking and strip bars.
And in Miesville, a city with about 135 residents in Dakota County, a reluctant mayor was apparently returned to office. Mayor Wilbert Shaffer did not seek reelection, but no one else filed either.
