PAUL Burrell told last night of the moment he and Princess Diana's sister Sarah McCorquodale found the explosive palace rape tape - then never saw it again.

The recording, a harrowing account given by valet George Smith to Diana of an alleged rape by an aide of Prince Charles, was nestling in the princess's mahogany box of secrets.

Intrigued, Lady Sarah asked the butler: "What do you think could be on this?" Paul told her as Diana had informed him of the incident.
