John Hancock Funds has bought the assets and shareholder base of Pzena Focused Value Fund, a mutual fund of Pzena Investment Management LLC in New York, the company announced.
Shareholders of the Pzena fund approved the deal Wednesday, and at the close of business Friday the fund became part of the John Hancock family of funds. Pzena Investment Management will continue to manage the fund -- now called the John Hancock Classic Value Fund -- under a subadvisory agreement.
It is the second such deal the company, a unit of John Hancock Financial Services Inc., has completed this year. In May it acquired the assets and shareholder base of the U.S. ...
