The Dallas Cowboys' Emmitt Smith has rushed for hundreds of first downs in his career, but his 11-yard gain against the Seattle Seahawks in Irving, TX, was special--with it he also gained the NFL career rushing record.

With that fourth-quarter run, the running back reached 16,728 yards, passing the late Walter Payton to become No. I on the all-time list and accomplishing a goal he'd set before his rookie season.

"Once I broke the line of scrimmage, I knew that had to be the one," Smith said.

Though the Seahawks went home victors, the loss didn't overshadow what Smith had done over his prolific career.
