GrafTech International Ltd. (NYSE:GTI) today announced that Craig S. Shular, the President and Chief Operating Officer, has been appointed President and Chief Executive Officer, effective January 1, 2003. Mr. Shular will also be appointed a director of the Company effective January 1, 2003. Gilbert E. Playford, the Chairman of the Board and current Chief Executive Officer, has announced his retirement as Chief Executive Officer effective January 1, 2003, and will continue as the Chairman of the Board.
