Ownership changes, new franchises and showroom expansions so far this year in metro Detroit:
* By far the biggest deal was the sale in January of Don Massey Cadillac Group to Charlotte, N.C.-based Sonic Automotive Inc. Sonic paid about $165 million in stock and cash for 16 of Massey's 19 dealerships.
* Troy-based Suburban Collection bought Flannery Ford in Waterford Township in January.
