CARROLLTON, Texas _ Though the Hindu caste system was formally abolished in India more than 50 years ago, human rights advocates estimate that one of every four of the country's 1.1 billion citizens is still labeled "untouchable" _ a status that critics say denies most social and economic rights as well as dignity.
