The rolling, emerald hills of Ireland never sparkled more than they do in the new 50th anniversary DVD edition of "The Quiet Man" (Artisan, 1952, $19.98), now available in video stores.
Digitally remastered with a newly enhanced soundtrack, the movie remains among John Wayne's best efforts. Wayne plays Sean Thornton, an ex-boxer from America who returns to his native Ireland intent on buying the little cottage in which he was born.
