Article: Georgia Department of Agriculture Announces Augusta Plant Recalls Ground Beef Due to Possible E. coli.

ATLANTA -- Georgia Commissioner of Agriculture Tommy Irvin is advising Georgians to check their refrigerators and freezers for certain ground beef products that may be contaminated with E. coli O157:H7. Shapiro Farmers Market, an Augusta processing plant, is voluntarily recalling 54,000 pounds of ground beef in various packages and chubs. The labels on all products being recalled bear the establishment number "EST. 332A" inside the USDA mark of inspection.

E. coli O157:H7 is a potentially deadly bacteria that can cause bloody diarrhea and dehydration. Children, the elderly, and persons with compromised immune systems are the most susceptible.
