SANTA ANA, Calif. _ Southern California's economy could be headed for a serious slowdown, according to a report released Monday.
The Southern California Leading Economic Indicator, compiled by California State University, Fullerton, decreased 0.45 percent in the third quarter _ its second consecutive quarterly decline. They are the first significant drops for the indicator since 1993 _ when the local economy was mired in recession.
"It's predicted quite a strong slowdown for Southern California," said Adrian Fleissig, the Cal State Fullerton economist who compiled the report, designed to predict economic changes over the next three to six months.
