`Half Past Dead" is a half-assed dud. Steven Seagal fans, by definition, are not very demanding, but even the faithful are unlikely to find the paunchy action star's latest vehicle an entertaining ride.
It's Joel Silver trash on a Roger Corman budget. You can go in expecting nothing and still feel cheated.
The film is set in New Alcatraz, the notorious prison re-opened as "a bad place for bad people." This is no idle boast. The prospect of being confined long-term with Seagal would have even Tony Soprano begging the feds for a plea bargain.
