Graeme Edge is a die-hard Trekkie. Note the "-ie" at the end of the term, not the "-er" that a lot of "Star Trek" fans use nowadays. Edge views "Trekkers" as overtly pompous.
"They don't like the femininity of `Trekkie,''' he said. "But I'm a Trekkie. I was there from the beginning."
One can't help but sense the irony in this. The Moody Blues, which Edge helped found in 1964, has often been accused of pomposity by rock purists. It's a major reason the band and its prog-rock brethren, with the exception of Pink Floyd, haven't been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame despite selling millions of records and retaining a strong fan base for almost ...
