Here's a sure sign that 62-year-old Brian De Palma, whose 26th film, "Femme Fatale," opened Wednesday, still has a fire for making movies: It's still easy to get him riled up.
On the subject of movies' opening scenes: "It's such an important time, and, yet, you see it frittered away in movie after movie. Do I want to see another helicopter shot of Manhattan at the beginning of a movie? Are these directors asleep at the switch? What a waste of an audience's attention! They're so vulnerable at that point and they'll accept anything you give them. Please! Have an idea, for God's sake."
