ST. LOUIS _ A mysterious woman with a hard-to-believe story turned over $3,000 in cash last week to be used for a DNA test that she maintains will identify a murdered girl and help solve one of St. Louis' most infamous criminal cases.
The woman, who is from the Kansas City area but doesn't want her name or occupation revealed, says the DNA test will identify a girl whose body was found on Feb. 28, 1983, in the basement of a vacant building in St. Louis. The girl, about 8 to 10 years old, had been sexually assaulted and decapitated; her head was never found.
