The movie is called "Half Past Dead," and Steven Seagal plays the title role.
Just to show you how apathetic Seagal is, he plays a Russian named Sascha Petrosevitch, but he makes no attempt at an accent. He's a crook (or maybe not), jailed at a revived Alcatraz, who gets involved when a Supreme Court justice, who's visiting the prison, is taken hostage. And, since Seagal is slow, out of shape and eerily tan, of course he can bust the heads of bad guys who are half his age and weight.
Dreary and misogynistic, "Half Past Dead" has a few passable action scenes, scattered throughout a beginning that makes no sense, a middle that's tedious and an ending that ...
