The way China's new leaders were chosen might be more telling than who they are, according to Minnesota China experts. The elevation of Hu Jintao represents the most orderly, peaceful transition in recent Chinese history.
"We are talking about a system of rules that wasn't there before and a functioning constitution," said University of Minnesota China historian Edward Farmer. "They have terms of office and term limits."
