InterWAVE announced the first commercial release of its WAVEXchange II (WXC II) high-capacity switch. This second-generation Mobile Switching Center (MSC), having recently completed successful trials with Shanghai Telecom, a subsidiary of China Telecom, is capable of scaling from a few thousand subscribers to more than 100,000 subscribers in a modular, dual redundancy platform.
