Article: Dr. Jacob Kumaresan Appointed to Head the International Trachoma Initiative.

NEW YORK -- The International Trachoma Initiative (ITI) is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Jacob Kumaresan to the position of President of ITI. He will begin his tenure effective March 1, 2003.

Kumaresan will be leaving his post as Executive Secretary of the World Health Organization's Stop TB Partnership in Geneva, Switzerland. He succeeds ITI's founder and retiring Executive Director, Joseph A. Cook, MD.

Kumaresan's experience leading a global initiative to eliminate tuberculosis -- mobilizing partners, managing drug distributions, and advocating for TB control -- matches well with ITI's mission to eliminate blinding trachoma. Over his ...
