When the Hastings Lake Community Coalition sent a letter of intent last week in an effort to purchase the Hastings Lake YMCA, they knew it signaled the start of a lengthy negotiation process.
And while their first offer doesn't seem to be winning the support of the YMCA of Metropolitan Chicago, the coalition is far from conceding its efforts to buy the property.
"We fully intend to purchase the YMCA property," coalition member George Richter said. "I'm very confident that if we had two willing parties, we could make this thing work."
