The Tug Hill Plateau gets a big snowfall, so what better place to hold a big cross-country ski race.
On Feb. 1, the Tug Hill Ski Club will host its 23rd annual Tug Hill Tourathon cross-country ski races at the Winona State Forest on the plateau. Nearly 300 people have participated in the 25- and 50-kilometer races in recent years, said Clara Bingham, a member of the Tug Hill Ski Club and last year's race director.
The things that keep people coming back are the snow and the atmosphere, Bingham said.
