AT THE best of times it would have been a shocking breach of security.

A teenage Arab fanatic, Josef Monti, enters Britain illegally and asks to be directed to the militant Finsbury Park mosque.

Then, two days later, he is found apparently smashing up an aircraft on the tarmac at Stansted Airport.

These are not, however, the best of times. We are repeatedly told that Britain is under imminent threat from Al Qaeda terrorists. We are on the verge of war with Saddam Hussein, of whom Monti (now, thankfully, in detention) claims to be a supporter.

Yet not only was this man allowed into Britain on Eurostar ...
