FURTHER to the provenance of British fire-fighting appliances, in the mid-1990s, my husband Paul created a company that refurbished former British fire appliances and vehicles. His customers were mainly overseas.

Our stock was initially bought from vehicle auctions or fire brigades across Britain. My husband built and managed his own workshop while I managed his paperwork and office affairs.

As with all businesses, we encountered competition. Secondhand fire vehicles became a wanted commodity.
