WEARING a pastel pink ballerina's dress and matching shoes, her appearance - even at the tender age of five - was that of a girl destined to perform.
By the age of eight Romola Garai was displaying her talents in school plays and attending the theatre with her doting parents.
While most of her teenage friends concerned themselves with pop music and boys, at 14 Garai kickstarted her career by joining the National Youth Theatre.
Tomorrow she will prove how much those early efforts paid off, as she stars in the BBC1's glittering production of George Eliot's Daniel Deronda.
