IN THE fantasy film world, the biggest battle of the sequels is about to commence and, despite not opening for another three weeks, Lord of the Rings is poised to beat Harry Potter by a short head.
Cantor Index, the City spread betting firm, says its punters are backing Lord of the Rings to take between $18 million (pound sterling11.5 million) and $30 million more than Harry Potter in its first four weeks at the US box office.
Harry Potter and The Chamber of Secrets, which officially opened last week, is forecast to take between $212 million and $218 million in its first month of screening in the US.
