Seattle-based Holland America has started scrubbing down its now infamous cruise ship Amsterdam, dubbed the "barf boat" by one Florida TV station, after more than 500 passengers and crew members have fallen ill from the Norwalk virus during four consecutive cruises.
One expert on viral epidemics, however, said the company can scrub every nook and cranny of the boat until it glistens and that won't guarantee against another such outbreak.
The common bug most likely comes on board with the passengers or crew - and likely will again.
