IF HE SEEKS the presidency again - which appears a near-certainty, his final decision due by year's end - Al Gore promises to "run very differently" and speak to voters "straight from the heart."
Does this mean he didn't speak from the heart in the 2000 race?
"No, I did speak straight from the heart," Gore insisted over the telephone yesterday, on the eve of a pair of book signings here. He just had problems connecting.
