WASHINGTON -- The majority of employees in the retail industry are women, as are the majority of Wal-Mart employees. The following report shows conclusively that women -- including single mothers and part-time female workers -- with union representation earn higher incomes, have better health care coverage, and better pension benefits. The IWPR report challenges the myth perpetuated by Wal-Mart that says the company offers competitive pay and excellent benefits.
