AMERICA WEST ACQUIRES UP TO 118 AIRBUS INDUSTRIE A320S

WASHINGTON, Oct. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- In the single largest aircraft acquisition in its seven-year operating history, America West Airlines announced today that it has signed contracts in a multiparty transaction for the acquisition of up to 118 fuel-efficient Airbus Industrie A320s.

Parties to the transaction include Airbus Industrie, America West, Guiness Peat Aviation (GPA), Kawasaki Enterprises and International Aero Engines (IAE). All of the A320s will be powered by IAE V2500s, and seat 148 passengers in a two-class configuration.

America West plans to begin A320 service in January ...
