THE FIRST time Donna Adams took a stability ball class, she figured she'd get a nice, gentle workout. After an hour of straddling, lifting and stretching across the giant bouncy ball, every muscle in her torso burned with fatigue.
``Just try to do a sit-up on that ball,'' said Adams, a 33-year-old Woodland Hills resident. ``My husband thought it was funny. I took one of the balls home and told him to try it. He didn't do very well.''
