The feds announced last week that they'd nabbed a top al Qaeda lieutenant believed to be a key architect of the October 2000 bombing of the USS Cole in Yemen. Officials say Abd al-Rahim al-Nashiri is such a big fish that they waited three weeks after his capture to release his name. "He was a very bad actor," says one intelligence official about the Saudi-born al-Nashiri, said to be al Qaeda's chief of Persian Gulf operations. "He was involved in a lot of terrorist attacks in the past, and we know he was working on more terrorist attacks in the future. Taking him off the streets is a very good thing."
