No final decisions have been made, but the Gophers appear to be slipping from the Sun Bowl to the Music City Bowl.
John Folmer, the Sun Bowl's football chairman, said Monday night the Sun Bowl's 11-member executive committee is "leaning toward selecting Purdue" in the likely event the choice is between the Gophers and Purdue.
Purdue went to the Sun Bowl last season. Bowls normally don't invite the same team two years in a row, but the Gophers' four-game losing streak to end the regular season has some Sun Bowl committee members questioning how many fans would follow the team to El Paso, Texas.
