Construction on North Shore Village, a new 450,000-square-foot mixed-use development, is scheduled to begin in May at Willow and Waukegan roads in Northbrook.
The developer, North Shore Village LLC, has a 150-year lease on the land from the Society of the Divine Word, a Roman Catholic missionary society based there.
The development will be at the intersection's northwest corner.
The property, known as the Techny land, was annexed to the village of Northbrook in 1989.
The design for North Shore Village follows the "new urbanism" philosophy, according to the developer.
