NCAA Men's: Ball State's Smith to sit out 2002-03 season.

Muncie, IN (Sports Network) - Ball State senior forward Theron Smith will sit out the 2002-03 basketball season and apply for medical redshirt upon the completion of the campaign.

The decision was made because of re-occurring tendinitis in his right knee as a result of surgery in June to repair a torn anterior cruciate ligament. Smith is expected to return for the 2003-04 season with a fifth-year of eligibility at Ball State.
