Sarah J. Whitehurst is naturally outgoing. So when she and her husband moved to Chesapeake some 15 years ago, the couple came up with an idea to further his landscaping business and use her welcoming ways. Whitehurst started Greetings 2 U, a newcomer greeting service.
When she hears from chambers of commerce, friends and other sources about people moving into the area, she knocks on their door. The basket she delivers may contain a letter from the mayor, information about taxes, a parks and recreation guide, churches, the library system and animal control.
