Power and politics often go together and last weeks elections brought several energy issues to the forefront. With governorships in several important energy states up for grabs and energy referendums on several state ballots, the idea that all politics are local was given more weight.
In Alaska, Republican Sen. Frank H. Murkowski was elected the state's next governor. With 99% of the votes counted, Murkowski beat his opponent, Democratic Lt. Gov. Fran Ulmer, by more than 15%. Unofficial results showed Murkowski received 111,116 votes to Ulmer's 81,197.
