Hundreds of organizations throughout Latin America and the Caribbean took part in the LACWHN's 2002 Advocacy Campaign for the Exercise of Sexual and Reproductive Rights celebrating May 28, International Day of Action for Women's Health. For the second consecutive year, the call for action asserted women's right to health as a civil right.

In light of the sobering setbacks in the recognition of the right to health throughout our region, campaign participants planned a variety of lobbying activities to pressure government officials, members of parliament, health care providers and the news media to take effective action to meet women's health care needs.
