Kobe Steel, Wieland-Werke to Partner on Venture.(Brief Article)

Japan's Kobe Steel, Ltd. recently announced plans to combine copper pipe businesses with Wieland-Werke AG of Germany in the United States.

According to Kobe Steel, the merger will involve its North Carolina-based subsidiary Kobe Copper Products, Inc. (KCPI) and Wieland Metals, Inc. (WMI) of Illinois, with an equally held joint venture scheduled to begin later this month.

Kobe Steel said the new company will manufacture copper pipes for the air conditioning industry.
