Worried that Canada is losing its allure as an auto manufacturing market, the nation's major auto parts trade group last week called on the government to spend more to boost business.
The Canadian suppliers want the government to take immediate steps to unsnarl the cross-border truck traffic with the United States, worsened by the U.S. war on terrorism. They called for more generous government offers of tax incentives to woo automakers looking for factory sites and for more spending on technical training programs for workers.
