Everyone needs sleep! All animals must sleep or rest every day. Sleep keeps your body healthy and helps you grow. You should sleep 10 to 12 hours every night.
When you sleep, your muscles relax and your heart and lungs slow down. There are 2 types of sleep. One is called Rapid Eye Movement (REM) sleep. During REM sleep, your eyes move back and forth very fast behind your eyelids. This is when you dream. Everyone has about 4 to 6 dreams a night, but people don't always remember their dreams.
The other type of sleep is called Non-REM (NREM) sleep. When you first fall asleep, you enter NREM sleep. As your sleep gets deeper, it becomes harder and harder for ...
