A TWO-PRONGED PLAN TO tap into Lake Ouachita and Greer's Ferry Lake is expected to address future water needs in central Arkansas.
A final report, scheduled to be issued in early December, will outline the proposal as the most cost-efficient way to expand the regional water supply.
"The total project, looking at both of those, is almost a billion dollars," said Jim Harvey, chief executive officer of Central Arkansas Water in Little Rock. "It's a lot of money, but it would serve a tremendous population."
The number of metered customers represented by communities and water systems interested in participating in the project is nearly 200,000. ...
