Nov. 28--The country's more than 40 million allergy sufferers no longer must seek a doctor's OK to obtain one of the most popular remedies.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration on Wednesday cleared the allergy pill Claritin for use without a doctor's prescription -- providing a treatment option less likely to cause sleepiness for patients who buy their allergy treatments off drugstore shelves.
