Nov. 28--Beginning in mid-December, allergy sufferers won't need a prescription for the popular antihistamine Claritin -- a switch likely to benefit both consumers and health insurers.
In a long-awaited decision, the Food and Drug Administration on Wednesday approved over-the-counter sales of Claritin, the most widely prescribed allergy medication.
Schering-Plough hasn't said what the drug will cost over the counter, but the change will mean big savings for many consumers -- especially people with no health insurance or prescription-drug coverage who have ...
