Nov. 26--Under the auspices of the Bergen County Human Services department, a group of clergy, ethnic leaders, residents, and social service workers is launching a fact-finding mission on the growing but elusive population of day laborers.
They plan to present their findings in January, along with recommendations that likely will include central sites where the workers and contractors can meet, and outreach efforts aimed at improving the laborers' access to social services.
