Nov. 26--The federal government on Monday resolved a leadership dispute within the Eagle Pass-based Texas Kickapoos by recognizing an informal Oct. 28 vote that ousted tribal council members who were blamed for squandering revenues from the state's only legal casino.
The tribe's new leaders, eager to restore crucial income from the Lucky Eagle Casino, said it would reopen on Wednesday -- just in time for the Thanksgiving holidays. Its month-long closure had produced unemployment and hardships on and off the Kickapoo Village reservation.
